Boy-Oh-Boy

I am invited to dine with the Paynes almost every week night that I'm alone. I gladly accept the invitation. It gives me a chance to play with the boys and enjoy Jamie's home-cooked meals (she is an excellent cook!). But it's seeing the boys that I enjoy most. You never can predict what they'll say or do next. In nice weather they are outdoors playing in their big back yard. Seeing my car in the driveway brings Ayden to the gate where he greets me and begs me to play with him. How can I resist that face? He tucks his little hand in mine and leads me to the back yard where he asks me to watch him ride his fidower (translated as "four wheeler").
Ayden: Mimi! Watch me!
Ayden: Mimi! Take my picture as I ride my fidower.

Mimi: Ayden...look at me so I can take your picture.
Ayden: I am looking at you, Mimi! I can see you.

I moved from Ayden to Jameson. Ayden does NOT like the attention to be on someone else. Unlike his attention grabbing sibling, Jameson is more elusive about having his picture taken.

Ah hah! Jameson got his wheel stuck on a toy. He was my captive subject, if only for a brief moment. Don't let that angelic face fool you. There are horns beneath his helmut.

Mimi: Ayden, smile nice for me.

That isn't exactly the nice smile I expected. If you're patient, you might get lucky... in the world of toddlers, grab it while you can!

I do not blame you for wanting to be there when ever you can. They are great and they get better every day. You can play and Jamie cooks. Both of you guys win.

You take the most fabulous pictures of my boys. I actually win in more ways than one. I get to cook dinner without the boys in my way and I get to see the pictures you take while I'm in the house. Since I can't be in two places at once, I think having such beautiful pictures of my babies is worth a few homecooked meals!! I love you mom!!

I always enjoy reading your blog, Debra, especially when you write about the boys. With 4 weeks to go until my little dumpling arrives, I am so looking forward to memories that I know I will treasure.
