Ayden showed up at our house Saturday afternoon with his little Sponge Bob suitcase. He was all excitement about having a sleepover at Mimi and Bumpa's house. No sleepover would be complete without a drive around the neighborhood on the cart path.
Ayden was at the wheel of his RZR while Mimi and Bumpa followed behind in the golf cart. It was a chilly day but the bright sun made it pleasantly warm.
Like any other 4-year-old, Ayden has the attention span of a gnat. He began driving with both hands on the wheel that lasted about 3 minutes. He then fidgeted with the radio and kept turning around to be sure we were following close behind. He mistakenly drove off the path twice because he wasn't paying attention.
"What eagle?"
"That one, Mimi. See? It went into the jungle over there."
[Pause] "OK, Ayden".
No, it wasn't an eagle...and the thick forested underbrush along the path isn't a jungle. However, in the imagination of a little boy, it IS.
We love you, Ayden!

What an adorable little boy, I can see why he is so special to you. Hugs to you and him~~~~Leslie
Adorable post!
All my son wanted when he was this age was a car similar to this that one of our neighbor children had.
Sadly, we weren't able to afford that car, but he did get to use the other child's car now and then. He was the happiest I remember him ever being!
Funniest line: he has the attention span of a gnat. ha!
What a sweet post! I love the posts of you and your oldest grandson.
Just this evening as Erika stopped by to pick up Jack, he started waving frantically bye bye with the biggest toothless smile ever.
Grandchildren make us smile and warm our hearts.
Thanks, Leslie...we think he is adorable :) He also has a kind heart and loves to snuggle. He is a very sweet little boy!
Kate, I would have given my right arm for a car like this!
Deb, I love pics of little Jack. He gets cuter every day! Aren't grandchildren the best??
That is so sweet! He sure is adorable, and I think it looks like an eagle, too;)
He's adorable. Gotta hang onto that imagination! Kids could teach the rest of this crazy busy world a thing or two when it comes to that. And I love the photos!
Such a nice post and sweet, sweet child.
So cute! I love the "the one that went in the jungle" quote. Love kids view of the world.

J is the same way when he drives! he sometimes makes up stories about eagles & jungles too! No wonder Jaime & Jason thought it appropriate for J to be the godfather!!!
OMG Nikki! You crack me up!! Great pics of Ayden mom...you do such a great job of capturing his unique personality. Ayden has quite the imagination:)
LOVE that post!! Tom's favorite extinct animal is the Eagle, although they have been well protected and are no longer an extinct species. VERY CUTE! Tom loved the pics and re-cap of the adventure, too :)
