Even on the weekend I rise early. My usual wake up time Monday through Friday is 5:30am. On weekends I sleep until 6:30'ish depending on when the pups need to go outside. I always wake before Doughboy and let him sleep as long as he needs.
This past Saturday, Valentine's Day, was an exception. Doughboy had left a gift for me in the chair I usually sit upon. He woke early to surprise me and anticipated my usual routine: after feeding the pups their breakfast, I pour myself a glass of orange juice then sit in my brown leather chair to watch the morning news.
Seeing the bright colored gift bag, I said "Oh look! There's a bag in my chair".
Without missing a beat, Doughboy said "Not yet".
...I let him live another day.

You are a better woman than I....
Ha! I would have laughed along with him. So what was in the gift bag?
I'm not sure I would have...on second thought, he does usually give really good gifts, so maybe...
Talk about living dangerously! Scrap Club loves the fact that we have our very own handy man - I hope it hasn't gone to his head and he's forgotten how scary a group of pissed off women can be. Ahh, we know he was just doing the thing you love most about him - making you laugh!!!
There is a point in the male ego where the instantantious recognition of a great comeback overcomes the fear of death. The decision point where a guy has to decide to either blurt it out quickly and get the points for a good one or swallow a 10 pointer and be branded a whimp. You must made the decision on instinct....if you wait for even a second the moment can be lost (no points). In that flash of time, there is an incredible amount of calculation that occurs, distance from heavy throwable objects being one of them. I consider a good quip true mastery, not to be avoided but to be savored.
Of course, I could be wrong........
Oh..we get even...eventually!
Man! That's brutal :) Yeah we have our ways!!!!!!!!
(I totally would have laughed too but maybe given him a bit of a slap while I was laughing)
How funny. Sorry you had to wait longer to get your gift. What was it?
Com'on......this is FUNNY.
Even Doris grinned a little with this one. All three dogs looked at me with sort or a knee-jerk reaction then immediately cleared the room.
They know where the splash zone is apparently.
Clever dogs.
Judyann: The bag had a brand new Swiffer Wet Jet with even some extra replacement pads. When you're married for a while, you think of stuff like that (extra pads). Deb was so excited to get that she probably forgot to mention it.
Do not touch a hair on that sweet man. You are so spoiled. Plus we need our repair man. How could you even think of harming a man in a tool belt?
Thanks for participating in my "pay it forward"! I'm enjoying your writing and on my way to trackback and figure out who this 'doughboy' is...
Ha! I might not have been so kind. But yes, funny. :)
