The Gods Must Be Crazy

Never mind that I already have a full and busy life. I have a demanding full-time job, take care of two homes with two swimming pools, am Mimi to two grandsons living 8 minutes away, mom to three fur children, wife to Doughboy, and am obsessed with two hobbies – photography and scrapbooking. Why would I add yet one more hobby to my already jam-packed schedule??? I must be absolutely, unequivocally, certifiable INSANE! Arghhhhh! Everyone knows I have no self control. Never one to take a slight interest, I jump in feet first with all the gusto of someone possessed. Linda Blair would be pleased. Quick! Someone please call a priest!

It all started innocently enough when my friend/co-worker/fellow Diva offered to teach a group of us how to make beaded jewelry. I have always admired the beautiful hand crafted necklaces and earrings that Pam perfectly coordinates with all of her fashions. It looks easy enough. But wait! I failed Beading 101! Yes, I nearly burst into tears when my strand of beads slipped from my fingers just as Pam was helping me tie off the end. The beads clinked against the table and rolled in a kaleidoscope of colors all over the floor. I had spent the past 1-1/2 hours carefully crafting my creation. My eyes nearly popped out of my head and my mouth gaped open and shut looking very much like a fish out of water. However, I quickly collected myself and pasted a forced smile on my face as I jokingly brushed off the incident. But I don’t give up easily. I am retaking Beading 101 next Wednesday and, if I fail again, Pam will most likely place me in remedial Pre-Beading. Hmmmmm…I wonder if she provides private tutoring.

I will NOT give up! Stay tuned…

If anyone can master the art of beading, it's you, Debra! You are the most organized person I know. I've tried my hand at beading and although I have completed a few fabulous things, I decided to leave this craft to my daughter who excels at beading. Me thinks the reason I have so much trouble with it is it requires fairly normal eye sight. Gettin old is a bummer!

Oh, and there was a reason I did not see The Exorcist...too scary! I have never seen that photo, honestly. I hide my eyes during scary parts of movies and if I am at home, I mute the sound. I cannot stand the build up...makes my stomach do summersaults.

Okay Miss Doris, I am sure that you will excell at beading. As for the picture, I did see the movie and scared myself to death. I like my handy man this week. Does it really matter how young or old? It never hurts to look. You can be sure that our Big Belly Babies are looking all the time.

Okay, that picture is frightening. I don't actually think I've ever seen the movie though. I'm with Deb, I don't do scary. I feel sick throughout the movie, scream outloud, have nightmares for weeks and am frightened in my own home. I'm still recoving from the Nightmare On Elm Street movie that my babysitter made me watch when I was in second grade! As for the beading...I'm either going to have to learn along with you, or your going to have to whip up some amazing creations for me and Kel!

And the girls. The grandgirls. Well, Soren too. He's like your average Persian man, loves jewelry. No pressure or anything, but I really need a new pair of turquoise color beaded earrings (see an old blogpost for pic).
Kisses.

Never Give Up! Never Surrender! I love movie quotes, don't you? That one was from Galaxy Quest, a fun little movie I've seen a few times.

But onto the Linda Blair poster. I almost didn't read the post because this movie freaked me out so badly that I even posted about it! Well, the post was about my sister, and she wasn't helping matters any.

I know you'll overcome whatever it is about those beads. You seem so creative.

I laughed so much at this post. And yes...you did handle the disaster better than most! I'm proud of your creative spirit and know that you will master beading as you've mastered everything else you attempt! Some day...we're setting up shop!!!
