I Survived Beading 101

Remember this post? Well, I did it! I finally succeeded in creating not one, but TWO beaded necklaces and a pair of matching earrings. Considering all the bead supplies I bought in the past week, each necklace has a net estimate of about $450 each!

I become obsessed when embarking on any new hobby (see my previous blog for photos of my scrap room). Seriously – the clerks at JoAnn’s and Michael’s recognize me by name. With four granddaughters and their moms, I have a constant supply of birthdays and holidays to keep me beading gifts for a long time. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it ;)

Do you have a hobby that keeps you awake at night? Do you appreciate home-made gifts? What’s your obsession?

A hobby that keeps me up at night would be either working on my pictures in Photoshop and blogging, or reading a really good book that I can't put down.

If I started on beading, I'd never get to sleep. I think I would LOVE it! These are beautiful, by the way. I love the designs on the blue beads in the bottom photo.

I like the top one...which I also think is the middle one. Good work mom!

BTW - Nothing keeps me up at night. With a full time job, a house to take care of, a 4 year old, a 2 year old and one in the oven, I'm forever exhausted:)

Beautiful beading work and photography of such! :) The blue one is my favorite because it reminds me of the ocean....peaceful and relaxing. That's what keeps me up at night, thinking of how to be peaceful and relaxed before the baby comes. I know, I'm weird!

So the really good news is that Doris has been cleverly insightful in her energy conservation efforts. By buying 3 to 4 packages of every bead ever made, she never has to drive anywhere for more stock. I, alas, have caddied for her at JoAnn, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, etc and have been party to this strategy. The better news is I now have air cover for buying an excessive amount of specialty tools for my workroom (as an equalizer). Bead on, sweet Mama. Doughboy will be in his workroom trying out his new set of flex-head double ratcheting gold plated wrenches. Life is good.

Your necklaces are beautiful. Love the rose photos too. What keeps me up at night? Well, I love to read anything by Nicholas Sparks. If I"m in the middle of a good book I can't go to sleep. Otherwise, I'm in bed by 10:00-10:30.

I'm with Jamie, just about nothing keeps me up at night. Well, unless I'm at work, in which case baby catching is the hobby that keeps me up at night. My regular hobby is reading this blog and eating brownies. He he he. Love the jewels. Petra will think that they're "weally pwetty."

Nice job, Debra! You have succeeded where I have failed.
