A Whiter Shade of Pale

As much as I enjoy the hustle and bustle of the holidays, I always look forward to putting them behind me. I love the feeling of anticipation I get when a new year begins. 2008 heralded many surprises for us, the most important being the addition of two new babies to our growing family. Looking back on the past year I feel blessed. In spite of the economic downturn, we have our health, jobs, family, home, and friends. My circle of friends include those I see regularly, those who keep in touch via e-mail and phone, and extended community of bloggers.

I am especially blessed to have become pen pals with a blogger I came across through Pioneer Woman. The first post I read of Kate's was The Mustard Story (if this doesn't make your eyes misty, you must be made of stone). I am not an emotional person, but Kate's story drew me in and I became a regular visitor of Chronicles of a Country Girl. Kate writes from her heart. She shares her highs and lows, stories of family and George, photography, and life in the country with a frankness that makes my heart smile. If we lived closer to each other, I know we would be dear friends.

Imagine my excitement upon returning home from work and finding a flat package on my front doorstep. I knew immediately it was from Kate. She had sent me a print from her Etsy site entitled A Whiter Shade of Pale. Tucked on top of the print was a note from Kate. How can such a talented artist be so humble? I'm excited to take my print to Michael's this weekend to have it framed - I will hang it proudly on the wall in my hobby room so that it may inspire my creativity.

If you haven't seen Kate's photography, run - don't walk - to her Etsy site by clicking here. Buy one, buy two, or even three. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks MUCH, dear friend! If I may ever return the favor of a photo, please let me know.

I, I don't know what to say, Debra. Sorry it took me so long to get it to you and I am so glad that you like it.
Happy Holidays, friend.
It was the mustard story that did it? Oh, my!

She is one special lady, as she sent me a housewarming gift, one of her beautiful photos.
Aren't blogging friends great?

Amazing pictures! What a special surprise. I'd never visited the web site before, but will make it a regular stop on my blogging. Love the "Thanksgiving" pic. Awesome!
