Sanguine Saturday

Today was busy, but enjoyable. While Doughboy completed a few tasks around the house, I had a date with the Bead Bungalow for a 2-hour beading class. I am defintely hooked! What I learned is that I have a lot to learn. The detail in the photo doesn't do it justice. This beautiful bracelet is made of clear and grey Swarovsky crystals, sterling silver spacers, and pearls.

Here's our Westie, Kady. She is sitting her back paws through the slats of the foot board on our sleigh bed. Shhhh...she has no idea she's a dog!

The afternoon was tons of fun with a pool date with our grandson, Ayden. He has a birthday in a couple weeks. It's hard to believe he's going to be 4-years old and starting pre-school. He has such a sweet, confident personality. His Bumpa introduced a new swimming concept. Inflatable armbands became Ayden's new best friend and permitted him mobility in the pool that he hasn't yet experienced. He caught on quickly and spent about an hour jumping into the pool over and over again. What a brave little man!

Click on the photo below for a slideshow of Ayden.

While Ayden and Bumpa played in the pool, I struggled to perfect my photography of hummingbirds. Obviously I don't have the shutter speed right. Does anyone have any advice? What shutter speed should I use to freeze the wings? I set my sights on something less challenging. A lovely butterfly was an easier target.

Click on the butterfly below for a slideshow of hummingbirds and butterflies.

your doggie pictures are SO cute deb! as for shutter speed, i never know unless i'm fiddling with the camera, but i would use continuous shooting. apparently 1/500 and 1/100 is good for shooting sports? there are some great tutorials online too. trying googling 'photographing birds' or something like that!

I love your butterfly and hummingbird pics, but the pictues of Ayden in the pool are my favorite! Maybe I'm partial since he happens to be my first born:) Thanks again for having him over so I could run some errands less one child. See you in a few hours for Scrap Club!

Your nature photos are such great quality! I particularly love this one as I think she's beautiful. Yes, I beleive this little little beauty is female. Why? I just do!
I know nothing about shutter speeds so ScrappySue is probably right.
Ayden is a doll!

Wow. I have so got to learn how to do these Flickr slideshows. I've got some in Photobucket, but don't know how to make a picture click onto it.

Your butterflies and bees and hummingbirds are beautiful. And your Ayden photos are so sweet. So glad you're having a wonderful weekend!

I forgot to mention your adorable little Westie, whose name sounds so similar to mine!

And that jewelry is just exquisite! Isn't it wonderful to know that you made something so beautiful with your own hands?

WOW! Beautiful jewelery piece! I can see you definately have a knack for another addiction, hehe.
Kady is so cute sitting with her feet thru the slats and with an adorable doggy face, too! Gotta love Ayden when he finds a new trick. I can tell he enjoyed that newfound pool freedom very much!
Of course the nature photos are always exquisite! *HUGS*

Such cute Kady pics! What a ham! Dad and Ayden pics are great, too. The pool looks beautiful. Very jealous. Bet you don't have avocado trees in your backyard, though? Have I 1-upped you . . . pool for avocadoes?

Your photos are so fabulous. Awesome job. I've had trouble catching the hummingbirds close enough to even get a photo of them, much less getting their wings to stay still.
